Product description

Karel van der Meer did not build too many instruments and bows in his studio in Amsterdam. His merit lay more in the fact that he brought many young, talented builders to the Netherlands. He encouraged his employees to develop themselves further without imposing a model or working method. He started as a violinist and later in life opened his own studio, next to the Concertgebouw on the van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. This bow dates from around 1900 and is in very good condition.
