Egon Sassmannshaus was a violinist and string teacher. His "Early Start on the Violin" was first published in German in 1976, followed by three more volumes, and is widely used. The work has been translated into Italian, Chinese and English; adaptations for viola and cello have also been published. Part 1 of the method is designed with large clear staves and is very suitable for young children from 4 years old.
