Start playing violin this week!

Strijkinstrumentenshop.nl specializes in the rental of hand-built violins. In our workshop there is always a suitable violin in the right size available for you. You can choose to pick up the violin in The Hague, but it is also possible to have the violin shipped via our partners PostNL, DHL or DPD. The violin is well packaged, so that you get it delivered to your home in perfect condition. You always rent a complete set from us, consisting of: a violin, bow, shoulder rest, resin and a sturdy violin box. We have chosen to work with European violins, because Dutch violin teachers have a preference for European instruments. In exceptional cases, we use instruments of the Stentor or Gewa brands produced in China. All violins are equipped with quality strings (D'Addario, Pirastro or Thomastik) and a Wittner (D) tailpiece with integrated fine tuners.

Information violin rental

Determine size whether you are looking for an instrument for yourself, or for your son or daughter. We have the right size in stock. The following sizes are available: 1/16, 1/10, 1/18, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 4/4. Don't know what size is needed? Take a look at this page to see how you can measure that. Need a different size? With us you can switch to a larger instrument free of charge. Children grow fast and therefore within a few years they often have to switch to a larger instrument several times. Rental period When renting a violin comes flexibility. At Strijkinstrumentenshop.nl we therefore also rent quarterly, this is our minimum rental period. Is playing the violin not for you? Then you just hand it back in to us.

Insurance package

We offer the possibility to include an additional insurance package when renting the instrument for an additional fee. With this package you are insured against damage and you do not have to pay extra for any maintenance on the violin (string replacement, re-hairing of the bow).

Rates

The rates shown are per month, including VAT and excluding any shipping costs. The minimum rental period is one quarter (3 months). The price behind the slash is the additional cost for our insurance package (optional). More information about the insurance package can be found under the heading insurance package. If you want to receive the violin sent by post, the payment of the first rental period must be received by Strijkinstrumentenshop.nl and a copy of your ID shall be send by mail in order to assess your identity (photo may be covered).

We are convinced that no matter how small the violin is and whatever the level of the player, everyone should have a good instrument at their disposal. A good instrument offers a challenge to the player and also has a motivating effect. That is why we choose hand-built instruments in Europe with a very consistent quality. All instruments are equipped with quality strings and accessories, and together with a good shoulder rest, chest and bow you have everything you need to start playing the violin!

For violins we work with four (4) quality classes, namely budget, advanced and premium, whereby the below values (ca) of the instruments apply:

The premium+ class is only intended for ambitious conservatory students. Instruments which are available for the premium+ class can be found on this page. 

• Budget violin set between € 250 and 500
• Advanced violin set between € 500 and 1.000
• Premium violin set between € 1.000 and 2.500
• Premium+ violin set > € 5.000

Shipping

If you choose "send" in the rental request, the violin will be sent in a box via the regular shipping companies (post-NL, DHL or DPD). Shipping costs are € 9.95. It is advisable to keep the box before returning the instrument (or possibly exchanging it).

Termination of rental agreement

Strijkinstrumentenshop.nl does not work with a notice period and you do not have to cancel the rental if you want to terminate the rental. All you have to do is ensure that the instrument is returned in The Hague, Prins Mauritsplein 19 (drop-off possible on Tuesday to Saturday between 11 am and 4.30 pm, without appointment) or send it by post-NL / DHL in a suitable box to the Van Weede van Dijkveldstraat 93, 2582KT The Hague. As soon as the instrument has been received by us, the rental agreement will be terminated, including any automatic payment arrangements and you will be notified by e-mail, which also explains the refund of the deposit (only applicable for premium violins, cellos and double basses). Any invoices that were already sent for the next rental period of 3 months will then be cancelled if the instrument has been returned in time.
