The Pirastro Chorda is an authentic cello string for baroque instruments with a very low string tension. The set consists of sheep gut strings, of which the G and C string are wrapped with silver-plated copper wire. The strings are available in medium, strong and soft diameter/string tension and are indicated in PM (Pirazzi meter = 0.05 mm). The following strings are available:

- A string : sheep gut (20 1/2, 21 or 21 1/2 PM) with knot-end,
- D string : sheep gut (28 1/2, 29 or 29 1/2 PM) with knot-end,
- G string : sheep gut core wrapped with silver-plated copper wire, with knot-end (27, 27 1/2 or 28 PM),
- C string : sheep gut core wrapped with silver-plated copper wire, with knot-end (35 1/2, 36 or 36 1/2 PM).
