This newly designed string set honors Paganini's legacy with a truly revolutionary sound (according to manufacturer Larsen). The strings have been tested by hands-on musicians and the players have a good opinion of playability, feel on the fingerboard and experience good resistance during bowing, with the following keywords mentioned by Larsen: Noble and powerful sound, colorful with rich harmonics , brilliant, open, etc. In addition, spicatto has a fast response. The strings of the soloist version have a slightly higher string tension and offer a fuller tone compared to the regular Il Cannone string. The E string is made from a specially designed carbon steel alloy (ball/loop end), while the A, D and G are made from a synthetic multi-thread core (ball end). The A string is wound with flat rolled aluminum, while the D and G strings are wound with pure silver. The new Direct & Focused sets have already travelled the world. Tested with musicians extensively in Europe, North America and Asia on both new instruments and old Italian instruments including Strads and del Gesù. Violinists describe the strings as having empowered the whole instrument with more colour possibilities, more clarity, more edge and greater gain.

A choice can be made between a set "Warm & Broad" and "Direct & Focussed", whereby the stringtension of the strings are somewhat lower. The D- and G strings W&B will be available soon.
