Karel van der Meer did not build too many instruments in his studio in Amsterdam. His merit lay more in the fact that he brought many young, talented builders to the Netherlands. He encouraged his employees to develop themselves without imposing a model or working method. Started as a violinist and opened his own studio later in life, next to the Concertgebouw on the van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. This violin dates from 1907 and is in very good condition. Very nice instrument with a nice powerful sound and recently completely restored.
