The Kaplan Solo double bass string is seen by musicians as the most distinctive double bass string (according to the manufacturer....). The string offers a rich palette of tones, along with good bow response. Furthermore, the strings have a somewhat higher string tension intended for the AEBF# scordatura solo tuning; one tone higher than standard tuning. An additional extended D string is also available. The strings consist of a multi-wire steel core with nickel winding, which gives a warm sound and a fast response. The design of the core of the string is such that it is pleasant to play for the left hand. The strings are very stable, even in changing weather conditions and are easy to play, both pizzicato and with the bow. The 3/4 strings are suitable for a double bass with a vibrating string scale of 1060 mm. The strings produce a clear and warm sound, both in the high and low register. The Kaplan Solo double bass strings are available in medium string tension.
