Heinrich Theodor Heberlein Jr. (1843-1909 ) was a German violin maker who was widely regarded as one of the best makers in Markneukirchen in the 19th century He is the most famous member of the Heberlein dynasty of violin makers , due to his impeccable skill in both instrument making and trading. He studied under his father, Carl August Heberlein. He then went to work in Leipzig and Hanover for Ludwig Bausch and August Riechers respectively. In 1863 he founded his own company, where until his retirement in 1897 he mainly made violins, as well as violas, cellos and bows. He incorporated many of the homogeneous characteristics of the old school into his work, from modeling to design. But the most prized quality of his instruments is their impeccable paintwork, which radiates warmth and a sense of worn beauty.
